  • Bette Jarva

Bette found yoga during college to deal with the stresses of working full-time and being a full-time student. After being diagnosed with epilepsy, yoga became an even bigger part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Yoga supported Bette’s mental health by helping reduce stress and allowing her to sleep better. After 10 years of practicing yoga, Bette followed the call to dive deeper: She earned her 200-hour teaching certification from White Crow Yoga in Nashville in 2015. In 2017, she completed her Blooma Prenatal Yoga teaching certification after falling in love with the practice while pregnant with her son. Bette’s teaching includes vinyasa yoga, prenatal yoga, and restorative yoga. She’s honored to share yoga with others through her teaching, and she’s passionate about continuing her personal practice and yoga education. She also loves hiking, biking, music festivals, and traveling with her family.

  • Jen Stewart

    Jen Stewart

Yoga helps Jen Stewart, eRYT500, bring awareness to her mind and body. It stirs up creativity, excitement and drive, and she loves sharing that with yogis of all levels. Jen officially discovered yoga in 2006 while working as a television producer in Los Angeles, and her life was forever changed. As she awkwardly found herself in her very first down dog, she realized there was so much room to grow and flourish. Jen earned her 200-hour certification with Hot Yoga Studio (now Yoga Fusion) in 2011, her 300-hour with Shades of Yoga in Bali in 2015, a Yin Yoga certification with Sarah Powers’ Insight Yoga Institute, and most recently completed her Prenatal and Postnatal certifications with Nurture Nashville Yoga. Jen welcomed her first baby in 2023.

  • Lincoln Elliott

    Lincoln Elliott

Lincoln is an instructor for core & pelvic floor as well as the Special Projects and Studio Care Coordinator at Nurture. She holds a doctorate in occupational therapy from Belmont University, and she works as a pediatric Occupational Therapist at a local practice. Lincoln first came to Nurture while developing a postpartum project for the studio as part of her capstone work in grad school. Lincoln loves working in wellness, specifically with pregnant & postpartum people, and she’s pursuing certification in perinatal pelvic floor and core support. Lincoln loves calling Nashville home, and when she’s not taking excellent care of all things Nurture or tending to her OT clients, you can find her dining at Nashville’s favorite local spots, at the movies, completely rearranging her furniture (again!), or on a hike with friends.

  • Kim Whinnery

Kim first developed a love for yoga while doing the hard work of improving her health while still pursuing self-love. It was the first time she found herself moving her body for the enjoyment of it instead of a feeling of punishment. A long time “birth-junkie” and heart holder for motherhood, parenting, and self-care led her to pursue her certification in Prenatal Yoga with Nurture. Kim wears her heart on her sleeve and is passionate about building a community of confident birthers & new parents that is free of judgment & competition. She’s a loving mother to her son, Felix, and twins Luna and Arlo, and wife to her husband, Tim.

  • Christy Tapocsi

Christy started practicing yoga 10 years ago while finishing school and living alone. Yoga showed up for her, both physically and mentally, when she needed it most. She says she’s always had a desire to both practice and teach yoga. She especially felt a calling to work with moms and babies after seeing how connected she felt through her own pregnancy. Christy enjoys helping her students connect with their mind, body, and breath in a truly nonjudgmental way and being a part of their journey to their authentic self. She particularly enjoys introducing them to savasana and providing a moment to slow down, be present, and connect. She hopes you leave her class feeling relaxed, peaceful and with a calm energy. Christy has 2 small kiddos and a fur baby at home. She likes most genres of music and loves singing along (loudly!) in the car. Her own self-care routine involves getting out into nature and moving her body in a way that feels nurturing.

  • Lucy Kells

    Lucy Kells

Lucy started practicing yoga in the early 2000s in Los Angeles and Memphis. Around the same time, she fell in love with her now-husband David, who lived in Nashville. After moving to Music City, Lucy deepened her yoga practice through teacher training and graduated from Yoga YoUniversity with a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certification in 2013. During her pregnancy in 2013, Lucy kept her yoga practice strong. She attributes this dedication throughout pregnancy to preventing aches and pains, promoting better sleep, easing anxiety, and giving her the strength to birth without pain medication. Inspired by the experience, Lucy become a certified prenatal yoga instructor and a teacher of mama-baby, toddler and kids yoga. Lucy completed her 300-hour advanced teaching certification with Vira Bhava Yoga in 2017 to round out her education with a focus on spiritual yoga practices and meditation. The following year, Lucy took a pilgrimage to India to experience the birthplace of yoga and Ayurveda. As a teacher, Lucy hopes to share the beauty and joy that yoga has brought to her own life, focusing on yoga for beginners, body acceptance, depression, second chances for students who had a negative past experience, stress-relief, seniors, new moms and those seeking spirituality and health.
